We’re celebrating the arrival of Summer (Finally) with a new window display!
Using a beautifully bright Amy Butler fabric as a base for colours (rich oranges, blues and torquoise) we were able to add into this with products from the shop and innovative display techniques. This winow celebrates what we all love about summer – the great outdoors, imagine your self sat in the garden surrounded by colour and drink a glass of crisp champagne!
Celebrate Your Local Yarn Shop this May
Whether you’re a crochet expert, novice knitter, or just fancy trying out a new craft, don’t miss Yarn Shop Day
On May 2 2015, the second annual Yarn Shop Day will take place in knitting and craft stores across the country, and here at The Craft Shop we’re delighted to be involved once again. The even has been organised by leading publications Let’s Knit and Let’s get Crafting to support and celebrate Britain’s much-loved local, independent wool and craft shops.
“We’re delighted to be taking part for the second year running, said Diane Hemsley, of The Craft Shop. Over the past few years we’ve seen a definite increase in the number of people who have returned to knitting or are starting it as a new hobby. Being able to provide advice on yarn crafting has become part of what we do for our crafting community.”
During the day The Craft Shop will have numerous activities happening, such as in-store offers, competitions and expert advice on knitting and crocheting. “We are looking forward to welcoming customers old and new through the door, and hope our local crocheters and knitters will get involved.”
If you’d like to get involved but can’t get down to see us you can download free knitting pattern or crochet pattern, just click on the links below!

November is National Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month: and we’ve turned purple to support it.
Cancer affects all people from all walks of lives, whether you’ve had it yourself or you know someone has. But, for us here at The Craft Shop, pancreatic cancer has affected us the most, and because of this we’ve diced to turn purple for November to show our support.
Firstly, our profile picture on both Facebook and Twitter has had a mini makeover and turned purple…
We’ve also turned our window purple, with an added festive theme. Selecting different purple products from around the shop we were bale to create a window (which is our biggest advertiser) to show our support for such a great cause.
You can see more images of the window on our Facebook page here.

Take a look at our latest window display ‘Crafty Coop’ where we have two new resident hens – one knitting and the other crocheting! Around them we have brightly coloured Spring delights from around the shop that include yarns, buttons, jewellery, cross-stitch kits and much more!
Using a palette of bright primary colours on a natural base allowed us to explore the beauty that lies within Spring, and more specifically easter – creating a joyful and thought provoking window, that lets the imagination run wild with ideas as to what to create next!
